- Orca next to Boat
- These guests, while out fishing, were able to experience a close encounter with a pod of Killer Whales.
- Mountain Goat
- Mountain Goats can be spotted grazing on the sides of steep cliffs, they dwell in steep areas to avoid the predators. Baby Goats or "kids" can keep up with their mothers when only hours old and hardly larger than snowshoe hares.
- Grizzly Bear
- Grizzly Bears or Brown Bears are a common site to the Alaska Scenery. Alaska Game and Fish says that technically, brown and grizzly bears are classified as the same species, Ursus arctos. The term “brown bear” is commonly used to refer to the members of this species found in coastal areas where salmon is the primary food source. Brown bears found inland and in northern habitats are often called “grizzlies.”
- Bald Eagle
- Great picture of a Juvenile Bald Eagle down by the Gustavus dock. Young Bald Eagles are often mistaken for Golden Eagles but you usually can tell by looking for the "bald" or featherless legs (or tarsi). According the Alaska Game and Fish; Bald Eagles are more abundant in Alaska than anywhere else in the United States.
- Blue Grouse
- Spotted just outside the lodge. The Male Blue Grouse's "hoot" can sometimes be heard from over a mile away. Because of this "hoot" they get their nick name "hooters."
- Wolf
- This Wolf was spotted right outside the lodge in the meadow. Wolves in Southeast Alaska are usually darker and somewhat smaller than those in northern parts of the state.
- Canada Geese
- Canada Geese can be seen throughout Alaska. There are over 15 subspecies that vary in size and color shading but all can be noticed by their black head and neck with the distinctive white spot on the side.
- Bald Eagle
- This adult bald eagle was seen down at the dock. Bald eagles main source of food is fish so you can count on seeing them anywhere around water.
